Saw that T-Mobile announced and acquisition of Mint mobile for $1.35B. Since Mint operates totally on T-Mobile’s network already as an MVNO I have to ask the question… what is T-Mobile getting for their money here? #telecom
Damn Ryan Reynolds’s with 2 exits. Shows how much marketing matters.
And upsell opportunities. MVNOs are most times wireless only. Traditional carriers will up and cross sell for bundles
A step towards monopoly and ability to have more anti-consumer practices? There's a reason why mint got a lot of traction.
IMO Ryan pulled a Michael Scott Paper Company. He saw that TMO like others stepped away from that low hanging fruit, even though TMO had metro, they tried to shift metro to be more like TMO and that's not the customer base. They felt neglected and jumped ship. If TMO would have not tried to reinvent the wheel with metro they wouldn't be out $1.3B
That’s an interesting observation. Extra points for referencing The Office.
More integration work for us!
Digital strategy.
users
1) Wholesale rates vs. retail rates 2) Subscribers addition. MVNO customers are not subscribers for the primary network 3) More control over the user group and telecom market
Also branding/brand differentiation. I would think that there is a clause for Ryan Reynolds to stay on as spokesman for a while because the brand is so closely tied to his persona.
