From the article, "The policy applied to some employees hired into remote-work arrangements during the pandemic. If someone lives within 60 miles of a company office, they would now be considered a hybrid employee, regardless of whether they were hired into a remote role, the email said." What the hell. Wonder if there will be an exodus of people. Article https://archive.ph/zOy5P #hybrid #on-site #returntooffice #remotework #remote
This feels like a bait and switch
At 60 mph that's just a 1 hour commute cap, right? Totally reasonable. 🙄
60mph for a rush hour commute? Where the hell do you live?
2 hours in CA
That’s idiotic. So I have to move away just to be remote? 🤦♀️
USAA is a trash company. It’s absolutely stunning to see how far they’ve fallen.
There are still lots of great folks working there but our executive leadership (CEO and CIO specifically) are absolutely horrible.
Surprised too, because insurance isn’t that easy to recruit
So far this doesn't impact IT but it's probably just a matter of time. Our CEO believes our company culture is being lost by everyone being remote so he's forcing some teams back in even though every productivity metric we have shows we're more productive WFH compared to pre-pandemic timeframes.
The company culture is suffering because life long customers continue to leave the company in droves
I was remote prior to COVID so as of now I’ve not been asked to return and my team including mgr work from home - fully prepared to resign if asked to RTO
USAA just wants to keep an eye on you - zero trust
Can they really renege on a written contract like that? If an employee was hired as remote, and bait and switched, wouldn't that be constructive dismissal and when worthy of a lawsuit?
60 miles is ridiculous
Agreed, that is unreasonable. Especially if their offices are in big metro areas
