The emphasis on blind is working for tech companies for prestige and TC but what kind of companies actually count? Software as a service companies? (Faang+) What about hardware? (Nvidia, Intel ect.) HP, Dell, Lenovo: are these tech or no? Verizon, Mobile, Comcast? It's "tech" but are they tech companies? SpaceX? NASA? It's got prestige and tech What about tech support companies? (Best Buy, Ubreakifix (Asurion), microcenter) Blind tax: 143k TC
I typically think of companies with an engineering culture where swe are the profit center. So a lot of the companies you listed won't count since they don't value engineering like FAANG or "big tech".
Not tech is like Kroger, Home Depot, State Farm, etc
SaaS. Anything where engineering is the main profit generator
It's monetized via ads, but googles core products are tech.
I would consider Boeing and GD manufacturing. Walmart is retail (not near Amazon), and capital one is clearly a bank. I guess these definitions are up for interpretation though.
Companies which derive the majority of their profit from selling software or access to it. SaaS companies count. Apple counts, but commodity hardware companies don’t have the profit to support FAANG compensation levels or need for the best engineers. Verizon and Comcast are not tech companies. Tech support is not tech.
Nvidia?
No.

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
They are all tech companies and yours is not. Listed example companies fall under different “tiers” based on crowd voting
Mostly based on TC and then secondary is difficulty of interview
I work at Asurion now actually
