Heard they are slashing 70% of their employees.
Telecom in general is in a race to the bottom.
But won't it help major carriers as a recession and high rates will prevent new competitors from entering with new lines? And it will preserve the triopoloy (Verizon, Tmobile and ATT).
The triopoly is secured by the fcc licenses. Whose network do you think these small companies run on? TracFone, mint mobile, Google Fi ect all pay wholesale to tmo or Verizon.
They just did, Open RAN didn’t glow the way they expected it to and yeah people lost jobs. Management was extremely indecisive from a long time on everything, CEO didn’t spend his time earlier looking into things and when he did, boom, layoffs!
Can you provide more info on the layoffs ?
US office is completely laid off, with handful of them remaining; Israel, UK and India are affected badly too. Around 450-460 people seem to be affected worldwide.
