The South Bay / San Jose metro area gets disrespected by SF people for many reasons. San Jose is mostly suburban, lacks nightlife, and has a different vibe. But there are many areas in the South Bay that offer great QOL and access to high paying jobs, nature, and great weather. Which South Bay area or neighborhood is the best place to live? I’m partial to West San Jose / Campbell area. It offers the best combination of amenities, commute access, and affordability. TC $160k
Sorry to the Santa Clara folks for forgetting about you in the poll
For those with young families Los Gatos is great!
Los Gatos is awesome. I like pretty much anywhere south of 280 and west of 17.
Seattle Eastside
I’m not familiar with the Seattle market. Which area of South Bay is like Seattle Eastside?
It's a difficult comparison since Seattle Eastside isn't as built up like South Bay and has more nature. Here's a very rough comparison - Seattle Eastside areas like Kirkland, Redmond are as good as Palo Alto or Los Altos. Bellevue is like a smaller newer San Jose with good schools. Medina is like Woodside or Atherton but on the water. Maybe Renton is like Sunnyvale without the Indians.
Poll checks out. All the traffic radiates from Google.
It will be interesting to see the traffic effects when Google really ramps up its San Jose expansion
I’d pick the place which is closest to work. Any place in South Bay is South Bay, period. None of them come close to what SF offers, so just try to maximize it by being close to work.
Definitely important to live close to the office. But there’s more difference between areas in the South Bay than you might think. San Jose offers a lot, it’s just different priorities compared to SF.
Yeah, doesn't offer so much shit in the street like SF.
