What is the best way to have your resume picked when applying?

I am currently an MBA Candidate trying to get some momentum with applications for summer internships. Is there any advice on how to have your resume picked when applying for big tech companies? Seems like they receive thousands on applications for each internship and it sounds impossible that they will take the time to review each one of them, even if for a few seconds. Would referrals help? Would anyone be available to take a quick look at my resume?
