What is the future of CUDA programming and stuff, if Apple is moving away from Nvidia GPUs?

Nvidia cards plays major role in AI, ML and CUDA. MacBooks are used by a decent percentage of software engineers. Although cloud GPUs are used, how is it going to affect the AI/ML sector if Apple is moving away from Nvidia? #engineering #software

No one cares about Apple in this sector. Bye Felicia.

No effect. Apple not using nvidia gpus for a long time

(Almost) nobody used apple hardware when you do ML/AI/CV tasks So nothing will happen to nvidia, it will just hurt Apple products, making them even shittier than they are now

wtf who uses a MacBook for training or even inference?

I think it has been long since apple has moved away from Nvidia. Nvidia is doing just fine.

Anyone in business with Apple will eventually get screwed by them. Happened to Imagination Technologies, Nvidia, Intel and in future AMD.

I love CUDA but see a huge risk for NVIDIA once DL platforms start supporting AMD.

NVIDIA rJVD03 Jul 18, 2020

It would probably take a very long time. All major ML libraries written in CUDA. Unless they can compile CUDA, it would takes quite some time to port these codes.

Apple has good ML chip AFAIK
