What team size yields the best balance of quality v efficiency. As a rule of thumb - larger teams = more time spent in meetings/planning sprints/too many differing opinions in meetings/but more likelihood of doing the right thing

In a factory? As many as hair on your head.

The more, the better. The empire must grow !
Smaller is better. My team had like 3 people and it was awesome. Iād say up to 6 is good. When you have 12+ its way too many
My current manager is a director w/ 12-15 reports, but he handled 2 disciplines (electrical and mechanical). He doesn't overschedule meetings and helps to compartmentalize his team meetings amongst related levels and disciplines. The most frequent and lengthy team meeting I have is a 1:1 with a like-minded teammate with overlapping skills and ideas. Also, most of the company meetings are only for specific project discussions.
To be clear, we never ever ever have 15 person meetings
