Hi Blinders, I seek an advice preferably from your own experience. I interviewed with Facebook hardware couple months ago and the role is still open on their careers site. After on-site interviews,recruiter called me to tell me that they like my skillset but it is not the perfect fit for the current position and he will keep me in thoughts when more positions open in 6 months down the line which will be perfect fit for my skills. He also sent me connection request on Linkedin after the call. I really liked the role and think that I did very well in the interviews. I am thinking of approaching the recruiter again, shall I offer them to interview more if they want to do more skills assessment? or only let them know that I am interested in the role? I am worried if I offer to interview more,I might come across as low-confidence and that might affect my comp in future when I try to interview with them again. Appreciate the kind responses. Thanks.
I think it’s a risk to go ask for more rounds of interview. I’m assuming you have the technical skills but may not have the culture fit they’re looking for. Unfortunately, they have a reason why they passed on you, and it may not look good in your favor to ask to be considered again at this time. I would recommend that you should just try again in a few months or so. If you’re able to find the HM on LinkedIn, connect with him and see what he and the team might be looking for in the future for improvement in your end.
I’ve come to understand after hiring and interviewing for many roles that there are 100s of reasons for a position not working out. Some are in your control but many aren’t. And finding the truth in a situation for WHY you weren’t hired is almost impossible to get. And (personally) if it’s a transparent hiring process the some of reasons can be strange.

Thanks for the insight and I cannot agree more. I am not trying to get the reason why I wasn't accepted, I just think that I might stand a chance since they haven't been able to fill the role yet. The question is should I say in the email that , I am open to more rounds of interview or not?
