Principal Software Engineer TC~300K at Microsoft vs 600K at Meta. Is 300k pretty low for Principal scope?
Trying to get other people tips and tricks. TC: $190k
Shooting for retirement at 50. No idea where yet.
Aiming to be *able* to comfortably retire by 50 (~3.2M savings goal not counting home equity). Hoping to get there earlier but a lot can happen between now and then. TC: Currently ~350k-400k
Aiming for mid 30s / NW 1.5 million Then downshift from work (may not mean totally quit working, but rather a transition away from traditional corporate jobs) and prioritize my health, family, and friends Max all the retirement accounts, live a simple life. As I earn more, my standard of living stays flat
I’ll leave technology fully by 40, but will transition into side businesses. I own a coffee roasting business and a bike shop. I’ll shift time from whatever my current gig is to that.
Shooting to own 3 houses fully paid off and live off rent. Hopefully in my 50’s
About 20 years ago; primarily bay area.
Saving enough to have about $5M and two paid off houses by 53. Then I'll spend about $1M in today's money on my custom retirement home somewhere rural and rent out the other two. Would love to be in the woods in the Pacific Northwest. I have a spouse.
How about kids? Living in the woods sounds good :)
We will retire the year my kid goes to college
Before 40, not the bay area but otherwise open
Early 30s, will likely never retire. Exit plan is a nice view and heroin overdose. TC 200k
Maxing 401k and saving on the side, but not trying to FIRE; just enjoying life as I live it. TC: ~210
