Is there any way to estimate how much is of GME stock is held by big money vs. retail? How much impact can wsb actually have in this battle? I saw a recent post saying Fidelity and BlackRock alone (?) held ~25% of GME stock. Adding in stakes held by other firms, the % of GME held by institutional investors would be even higher.
Why can't GameStop issue more shares? Their employees, executives can sell a lot of shares also. That would have an impact.
They are limited to 100m worth
Gamestop isnt a startup where a one guy has the control over the board. This company needs to hold a board meeting to decide to issue shares or not, which involves a lot of people
16% of GameStop is owned by retail investors according to this
Thanks. Anybody know if this % has implication for short squeeze; Is it too small? Or maybe the institutional longs are also in on it?
Fidelity and BlackRock hold 10% of GME shares.
Prob not possible to find the exact percentage in real time, since the short interest percentages are published on a 2 week lag. However, the price to borrow shares can be correlated with the amount of short interest (might still apply with current market conditions). That might be a decent proxy
