It's layoffs everywhere. Right when you think layoff is almost over, it comes back again. Recent days it's meta, amzn, lyft, dropbox. What should I be doing right now? Is it a bad idea to try hop over to the few companies who havent had layoffs: square databricks snowflake airbnb roblox (any other top companies didnt layoff? please add) I don't see a future at dropbox, it has 2 more years for the last AI bet before revenue starts going down Should I just do my work like usual and switch when market truly stabalizes(e.g 2 quarters without layoffs from well known tech companies) ic3 350k not laid off yet
Idk either.
Consider non tech companies like banks or utilities

YOE? You should be doing what you always did. Bank the cash, build an emergency fund and keep your interview skills sharp. This too shall pass.
Maybe we should just find a way to make millions quickly and then run off into the sunset
Stay put until the time gets better
Same. I feel like we’re on the titanic together collecting big cheques while leadership is steering us toward towards an iceberg. I’m going to be like those violin players and collect my 400k ic3 tc until the ship goes under.
Ic3 tc so high?
Come on guys you know the drill already Interview prep takes time. The more insecurity you have the more you grind LC Market is brutal out there. Next to impossible to get callbacks. Think it will thaw in 6-9 months Grind LC after or before work. System design prep should happen alongside while you are working Good luck to your interviews :)
My thoughts: Practice interviewing and interview prep is good. Market is hard now, but you could probably still get interviews, and it is good to do some. But if you are lucky enough to get another job offer don’t take it unless you feel really confident about it. Changing jobs during bad times puts you at higher risk of layoffs if your new company has them than if your old company does, plus likely worse severance, plus looks worse on resume to have the extra job hop step. The practice interviews and prep should put you in a better place to make the move once things start to improve.
Don’t try to switch now. No company is safe. Keep your resume updated, leet code skills sharp, and save $$$.
Tech is obsolete Learn to become a plumber
This is real - Union plumbers in major cities make BANK for working overtime… to the tune of 2-300k+ in cash per year
I’ve always though about becoming a longshoreman if tech doesn’t work out for me - it’s a pain to get a Union book but when you do you’re pulling in a comfortable 200k/year (which can stretch up to 400k/year if you do overtime)
