SF Gate: Bay Area coronavirus updates: Newsom: 56% of Calif. population will be infected over next 8 weeks. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Coronavirus-Atria-Burlingame-nursing-home-SF-15142764.php
Not sure who modeled that when worldwide testing shows 1% testing positive. Even if 9% test false negatives, that's 10%. But, okay, we'll be careful.
They have clarified that the projection considers no mitigation measures implemented. But CA has already has good amount of it. I'm guessing it's projected this way because they used the data from somewhere with no mitigation measures, and they wanted to give a worst case scenario. To secure more funds, maybe.
Even Merkel said about 50 million Germans could be affected. IMO, they’re using the worst case scenario in an attempt to make the people take this seriously. It’s a scare tactic, but definitely a non-zero-probable scenario. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1253542/coronavirus-news-latest-updates-germany-infection-death-rates-angela-merkel-italy
That's over 20 million people! I'm not getting out of my house.
