If you are applying for a new job, the recruiter asks for your current level. What should I say? Is it okay to 1) Deny to answer 2) Provide a fictitious answer that is a reflection of your self-evaluation?
is this because youre scared of getting lowballed? or because you haven’t gotten the promos you deserve? I don’t see anything wrong with telling the truth about your level and your comp/level expectation.
Scared of getting lowballed.
I think you should express your expectation, so you can get interviewed at the level you’re looking for. If your experience is within reason, I don’t see why they’d turn you down.
Which is it? Check out this post! "When is it safe to internal transfer at Microsoft to prevent your last team from screwing your review? (Compensation)" https://us.teamblind.com/s/UaDDrZvg
tell them california law protects you from being asked.
