With rise of e-commerce shopping post shelter-in place, e-commerce giants have been flourishing. Although, Alibaba and JD.com and other Chinese ecom deliver goods to USA, they don't work like Amazon or eBay in US. 1) What do you think will happen if Alibaba or JD.com gets in now ? 2) What would be people's response? 3) What would be government's response? I couldn't think of other countries' e-com giants as they all mostly have investments from either American e-com or Chinese e-com #Amazon #ebay #e-commerce #shopify Alibaba also have Alibaba cloud similar to AWS. PS: could someone explain why am I seeing JD website link when i don't have any URL. Does blind shows ads based on user's questions? Here is the screenshot. Never experienced this before here https://imgur.com/a/NYISEhk
The following step by step prediction: 1) US will likely generate some media news on data privacy/spyware regarding those companies 2) then initiate investigations while banning their operations to some extent to make them unable to compete with Amazon. But nobody will say it is straightforward banning because we are a democracy and free capitalist country. 3) If anyone complains, we will call out human rights and freedom topics as a non-Apple-orange counter. So dont worry, American companies shall always prevail.
But doing that continuously, wouldn't it make US bad for business investment ?
I think the current govt does not care about any of that. Many countries lost trust in the US since 🍊 👨.
China is as bad is gets in terms of preventing foreign firms from being successful there. They are doing fine getting business.
Jd is already in the US as their us company is a major seller on amazon and walmart.com
But can a common man shop on jd.com USA ?

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
They will need a lot of investment in supply chain to provide same level of service as amazon. Highly unlikely to happen. Also, no strong incentive for people to use them when they are already lukewarm to Google shopping et al. Not to mention Chinese companies don’t have a good reputation of quality products and service.
