If you do TC 200K and figure out same level employee makes 270K because of his negotiation ability. What would you do?
Probably not as simple as one factor. And why did you make the title click bait?
Well, I did not think it look like click bait, I updated it.
Why should you care other than knowing more compensation is possible. Work on your negotiation skills.
look them in the eye and let them know that winter is coming
Look for a new job. You'll have to OUTperform that person going forward for a number of years for your pay to catch up.
I'd assume that that person had some amazing skills that I could not replicate or provide equivalent value to make up for not having. (And for me 200k is unimaginable.)

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Just because you are same level doesn’t mean you’re equal...it’s not like you’re cashiers at McDonald’s...you’re making 200k and he is making 35% more than you...you’re probably wrong if you think the only difference here is negotiation abilities...if you can prove you’re worth just as much as him go ahead and make your case, but don’t be surprised if you get a “no”
Also I wouldn't say probably wrong. A lot of people get schafted because they don't negotiate
