Depends massively on which group you join. Some groups are a lot more busy than others and have terrible WLB. Others are fine. Overall, compensation isn't competitive with the FAANGs, but if you get a sufficiently high enough position, you might be fine. San Diego has good weather.
Sales Engineering group?
not sales, RnD group like modem gpu and camera is kinda competitive with FAANG if taking into account cost of living in San Diego
Q will pay better than NG and get you into tech and out of defense silo. Probably worth it for that alone. Spend couple years at Q and then bounce to apple, AWS, illumina, Msft HP etc who all have offices in SD...
This is the answer I was looking for. I am desperate to get outta NG. Thanks for understanding my situation lol
how is your offer
I am from Customer engineering group . Don’t join here. The culture sucks here. The group is dominated mostly from one region of south India(Hyderabad area). You will not be recognized for your hard work. I am trying to move out for past couple of months. More importantly you will work on technology that has zero scope of employability outside and even inside QUALCOMM. Basically the culture sucks and the employees too.
Oh I was referring to the San Diego branch
You'll be involved in a lot of late night meetings with Asia. It's not going to be fun.
Thanks for the info guys!! Good insight. Not sure how I feel about Qualcomm anymore. I appreciate the feedback
On the flip side, how's the culture like over at Northrop and are you out east or in SD?

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Culture in Qualcomm varies wildly depending on the team you are in. I used to be at Q 5 years ago in the modem division and got out at the first chance I got after spending 20 months there. The whole org basically runs on politics and nothing else. People taking credit for others work is rampant, there is no growth and work hours used to be 13 plus very frequently. It is a very, very toxic env. Now, some of this has changed over the years and work hours have come down significantly (mostly due to them loosing significant business, not because of change in management). Other orgs like graphics, pmic, I have heard great things about their approach for WLB and caring about the employees. So I will come down to the org you are going too.
Customer engineering group? How’s that one
When I was there 5 years ago, it was a good group .. I actually had someone who left the group I had joined to join the CE group ....I would recommend to try to talk to someone who is currently there if you can
