What's it like at Amex? I see they are hiring for engineering. I'm currently a CTO at a small startup but looking to move into a position where I travel less, code more, and don't work 60 hour weeks. I've been practicing LC for a potential Amazon/Meta gig, but I really love Amex's products and potential. Is it a good place to work? React, TypeScript, C#, Go, Python. Seattle, WA TC: 185K base, fully paid medical, stock options. No bonuses. YoE: 12
Wow CTO with 🥜
"CTO" = First tech hire, worked alone for 2 years, now leads a team of 6. It sounds cooler than it really is. Our ARR is under $10 million, so not many nuts to go around. Still, felt good building an idea into a multi-million dollar business. Doesn't mean squat for my personal family though (CEO owns 60%, investors own 38% and I own 2%), so looking to not kill myself so someone else can buy another mansion. 😂
Damn that’s pretty solid growth, you should easily be a paper millionaire depending on your multiple
You wont be coding much, it’s a pretty laid back boring environment imo
Anyone want to give me a referral to AMEX?

Does the market believe in Sundar Pichai?
It's a very chill environment and you can get away with a lot. I have never seen anyone getting fired It is not competitive in terms of pay though
What kind of pay ranges we talking? I can go as low as 150K base but if wouldn't be awesome.
What area is your target? I don't think we have an office in Seattle? YOE?
