What's it like working at Instacart?

Recruiter reached out. Wondering what's it like to work there in terms of career growth, WLB & comp? TC 250k

Strong culture. Decent amount of autonomy and ownership. Work life balance is reflective of a mid sized startup. Hours vary - some come in early, some come in at 11:30. Build your own hours - just make sure the work is done. Numbers are strong and our funding reflects that. There are things we still haven’t completely solved but are being thoughtful about it. How’s the tc? Base and paper money?

Cash is competitive. Equity is good. Based on our trajectory and fairly certain IPO, pay out should be decent.

I started the interview process there a few months back and got the feeling like it was a sinking ship. Multiple execs recently left people with no other experience filling in his heads of areas. That and the fact that Amazon got Whole Foods on prime delivery, Kroger’s and other large groceries you’re doing in house. No way for them to Justify their valuation

Great culture. We’ve had a few senior roles that left, but I wonder if it’s just that they got sniped by some ridiculous comp. I don’t see problems at the moment and we recently had some big hires - head of growth from instagram, CTO from wealthsimple. We’re also rapidly growing a Toronto office so I am not concerned about short/med term. Long term it has some challenges due to growing competition. Definitely not going to be a cakewalk!

PM me - I have some real thoughts. Competition, the model, and the metrics have some real issues.
