Whats the most common reason for Optiver rejection?

Hi a relative of mine applied for Optiver new grad (CS student non math major with few faang internships) and was rejected after HackerRank stage. Said that all HackerRank test cases passed and code also accounted for some custom test cases. I was checking out Optiver at glassdoor and I see nothing but rejection stories. I mean do they actually hire outside people or are all the jobs gotten from inside referrals?? Anyone know the most common reason someone gets rejected from Optiver specfically New Grad??

Probably speed

he may have failed the hidden test cases, took too long, or failed resume screening. optiver is selective so the expected result is rejection

They assess code quality and efficiency. It's not enough to just pass the tests.

I got the referral, wrote very very clean code, tested it thoroughly, but took too long like 2.5-3 hrs for doing these things, got rejected

I took longer and proceeded to the next stage. There is a reason they give you 48hrs.

I got 72 hrs, and the questions are not tough, i would solve them in much less time in normal OAs like in 30-40 mins

Oh Ok sounds like Optiver is a complete waste of time for mere mortals lol.

Not really. It's actually not that selective at all (for swe). I went to a no name school and had no faang internship or something special. Got an interview. My Hackerrank was not even 100% but pretty efficient and clean code. Moved on to the next stages and ended up with an offer.

I gave hackerRank solved all the problems completely, got mail for behavioural round. I have given behavioural round but I am not sure if they will be moving forward with my application, I have no reply from them so far. But overall behavioural round was like why you want to leave current job (I am currently working at amazon), seems like they want me to tell what I disliked about working here. I had nothing bad to say about Amazon, so HR told me thrice that she is not able to understand why I want to leave amazon. (what I told her: I am looking for exploring new things and opportunity, I always wanted to work for HFT and my ans was around this only..) Still not able to understand what HR was expecting me to say..
