Shouldn’t it be a normal practice? Anyone can explain? https://www.newsbreakapp.com/n/0sS0Hhnq?pd=09Euq0Zs&lang=en_US&s=i16&send_time=1713290313
It’s pretty simple - until voter ID can be provided in near-real-time and for free at polling locations, it’s just election interference
Lol, how much is it to get an ID? Why can’t rich California government afford it?
Because there are finite resources and voter IDs aren’t warranted.
Make IDs free, mandatory, and easy to obtain, then we can talk. Poll taxes are unconstitutional.
So are gun laws with this logic
How tf are IDs not free? Im not in the US so this baffling to hear lmao
Lots of illegal immigrants in California who are unrepresented while they work hard and what not. Allow their voices to be heard prevents abuse. At the same time not having voting Id causes havoc in our elections. IMO everyone should be able to vote as long as they pay taxes.
The united states military is all over the world enforcing our will on people of all counties. There should be no limits on who can vote in our elections whatsoever.
How are these kinds of comments not treasonous?
Lol at all the liberals mad that basic, fundamental laws should be enforced 🤣
Enforcing the law in this case would be removing all possible friction for voting.
Absolutely. Sorry that pulling a small plastic card out of your wallet is such an inconvenience.
Some states (e.g. OR, WA) use mail-only voting. How would you check ID?
you don't.
Voting is a constitutionally protected right. Adding friction that makes it harder to vote is therefore a slippery slope. ID requires time and money
Even protect illegal immigrants? How much money to get a ID? How long will it take?
So is the second amendment but there are rules on how one can obtain guns
Things that require ID: Filing taxes Driving Flying Getting a welfare check SNAP (food stamps) Buying a car Buying a firearm Everyone needs an ID. It’s a barrier for nobody. Many states even give you an ID for free if you’re on welfare or SNAP. Voting should require an ID. IMO we should add MFA.
Most of those things don’t require an ID. Nor are they enumerated rights. Require an ID to attend church or post on Twatter, then we will talk.
Such a stupid analogy. You can go to any church in the world, you can post Twitter at any place. But can you vote in any country?
Cities can’t violate state laws. Voter ID laws are abused to disenfranchise voters. There are less restrictive means for the government to achieve its purpose, so it must use those methods.
That’s the only way to counter the corrupted governments that abuse the immigration laws and import tens of millions of immigrants
Now you are talking nonsense. Even Texas had to walk back their unfounded claims. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2024/04/07/fact-check-no-evidence-of-widespread-voter-registration-by-noncitizens-in-texas/
America in an interesting country. How this is controversial is beyond me
It's controversial when you realize what 1-party is against it and why: Because it blocks their ability to continue to steal elections.
Because there is no national ID like other countries have. And in those countries it is easy to attain that ID. There are places in the USA where you'd have to take a day off work (without pay), drive hours round trip (i.e. you need a car and already have an ID) in order to get to a licensing agency. Then you have to actually pay to get the ID and have a mailing address to receive it. Instead, when you register to vote the secretary of state validates your registration information as eligible to vote, and when you show up to a polling place you provide your name and address is taken to ensure you're on the registered voter rolls. This system works well, and there's very little voter fraud in the country. Just look at the people who have been trying to "test the system" since 2020 landing themselves in jail.
