Just did some calculation backwards based on some information I heard. Want to check with azure folks. It seems only two cycles each year, Nov, May review period. Then if promo goes through, it becomes effective the next quarter. So namely, Nov-> early April , May -> early September? Not sure if my understanding is correct. In this case, it looks extra long time to promote effectively in azure ?

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
What is this “promotion” thing you speak of? 😂🥲 but yeah essentially manager submits promo 1 quarter before where you want your promo to happen. In reality most promotions happen in September (so promos submitted until June, but probably discussed already in March, given June promos are rare (end of fiscal year, no more budget allocation) and then the other chunk of promos happen in March, so submitted in December.
The “official” answer is that you can be promoted “at any time” so you have 4 opportunities for promo: September, December, March, June. Your promo has to be submitted the quarter before.
