Please excuse my ignorance but finances and investments are like another world to me. I’ve been hearing a lot about betterment and opened an account a few weeks ago and put $1000 in. It dropped about $25 at one point and is now up $11. Seeing the drop (yes, albeit tiny) made me nervous. I’ve got about $160k just sitting in my savings acct at my bank, not sure what to do with it. I’m hoping to buy a house within the next year. I’m extremely risk adverse as I’ve been saving this money since I was 17... was thinking of investing about $50k somehow to help with the house funds. Current TC is $180 but I’m not technical so I not sure how stable my career is down the line.#personalfinance
Move all of your saving in betterment. It is fdic insured for cash. Set up two way sweep that will keep your balances at right level
What’s a two way sweep?
Betterment's returns are sh*t and its expense ratio is not competitive at all. I've stopped using it entirely and only use Vanguard's many ETF's.
Do you have a strategy and funds you’d like to share?
Planning to move away from Betterment to Titan. Returns are pathetic in Betterment.
Send me a dm and I can refer you for 25% fees off on Titan
I started investing in betterment since jan this year with a regular deposit of around 1000$ a month. So far i am up 12% this year. On contrast i put some play money on robinhood and i am down 25%.
