What’s your experience with open couples/swingers?
Before meeting my current gf (about a year ago) I used to do a lot of casual online dating, mostly from Tinder and OkCupid. Probably averaged about ~20 new “flings” a year (where a fling means dating a woman for 1-4 times enough to have fun and sex, making sure both parties agree on the casualness of the arrangement as to not hurt anybody’s feelings). It worked out great and was a lot of fun, I have so many crazy stories! This past year has been refreshingly good with my girlfriend and have been monogamous, however I noticed that sex is starting to become much less exciting. I was thinking if it might be worth talking about experiencing something different sexually, such as swingers activities with other couples? Any experiences? Don’t do it, odds of it working out are low. Background: have joined a swinger couple as a single person. Sex starts to feel boring after a period of time. If you actually communicate and explore as a couple, it gets better after the lull if you dedicate yourselves to it. If you don’t, then you will have sex less and less frequently. The latter situation is the norm, but isn’t preordained. There is very low probability that you can have sex with other people, commit yourself to each other, and not feel jealous. The only way you can accomplish this is by demeaning sex to a purely physical, hedonistic act. There are downsides to that. Jealousy is a human condition.

Np. I would also say that whether we like to admit it or not, the decision about sex really resides with the woman. You can make your preferences clear, you can be attentive to her needs and desires, but she will ultimately be the gatekeeper as the lowest common denominator. You have to then decide if that makes you happy enough to stay in the relationship. Sex isn’t the only thing, but it’s an important thing.
