Let’s say January comes, and WFH is extended for 6mo. And then 6 more. Why? Ups and downs in # of cases and deaths, new strains of COVID, ineffective vaccine, high legal and financial liability of having people at the office, etc. What do you do then? Do you stick around high COL areas to go into the office once every 2 weeks? With none of the usual amenities, obviously. Do you move, and then risk having to come back? What if you have kid, school, etc? How can we plan our future 6mo at a time?
You can get it a second time. You are not automatically immune after getting it. And it can cause lifetime lung damage. Great plan.
Do you want to take that 0.01% chance? I heard it causes lung damage too. Not sure about the overall impact.
If you haven’t moved from high COL area already you’re doing it wrong 😎
Lol, impossible.
I just moved to a slightly lower COL still within commuting distance. I can commute an hour for 6 months if I need to.
Things are already opening up. I wouldn’t be surprised if we are back to office by sep-oct, unless a second horrible wave is yet to unleash
LOL. God bless your soul.
Work.com 🤣
Depends heavily on the direction the company is going. I won’t make long term plans without long term Virtual work support. I’d prefer to say in the Bay Area, but would be open to relocating to OC. I’m more concerned with my kids school and what exactly will that scenario look like. It wasn’t easy with virtual school and virtual work.
All the places I want to live are hcol.
With kids you don't move place to place out of the same school district every year. WFH or not.

We are not going anywhere because of kids school. Although might find a cheaper place in the area.
