Joining in January - do I get a prorated bonus at bonus time, or is there a cutoff? Only joining early for the prorate
It’s pro-rated for the calendar year. So you’ll get none in your first PSC, and you’ll get close to 100% next year.
Ah ok. So it’s paid in January? At Google it’s in March so I thought it would be similar but this makes sense
Later, in early March I think. But it is for the previous calendar year. The review (and bonus, etc) is for 1/1-12/31. It takes a while to come up with ratings and everything else, so paid a couple of months later. There’s not much to game at Meta with start date - everything is pro-rated, including grant vests.
March, prorated
The fact that you’re asking this question tells me your offer was not satisfactory for you.
Oh it was extremely satisfactory. Our bonus at google is paid in March, so just doing math on whether to wait for our bonus and join in March, or join earlier at Mets
Don’t bother joining early for bonus. You should have got sign on as well right
I did yeah. I just can really join any time until March, so wanted to see if there’s a best time
Best time is ASAP to get as much 401k match and the fitness credit for this calendar year
The bonus is paid out in March and is for the previous calendar year (1/1-12/31). I worked at Google too and, unless they changed it, it’s not any different. The bonus payout date might be different, but the bonus is still for the pervious calendar year. The only company I know of that does things slightly different is Salesforce. Their fiscal year is February - January and they paid out a partial bonus in September.
