Where is Google getting more revenue and profits? Perhaps the ad... Google can say, well, a Cappuccino used to be $3.50 and now it is $4.40 and so we have to increase our price 20% or 25% also. But Pixel 6, I guess it is my personal taste, is just too ugly. I can say I am subscribing to YouTube Prime for $4 / month (correction, it is $10.99 but since it include YouTube Music, so I am keeping it), and not going back to watch ads like crazy. Also I am at the edge of upgrading my storage for Google One, probably at $20 / year. I see more and more people using YouTube and some becoming YouTubers and earn their living that way, or create partial, constant passive income. I can watch some video and skip to 5:32 and see what they have to say, and skip to 8:20 and now I have to watch an ad again... so I am not doing it and Google has succeed in making it: it is my road, and you want to walk on it, you got to pay, like 1000 years ago in some forest road. And how else is Google getting more revenue and profits / cash flow? #goog #investment #stock
Increased shift to digital advertising leading to more and more ad revenue
Acquisitions
do you see how non-subcribers hate youtube these days or how more searching users moving to duckduckgo because less ads on top of search results? That’s how they managed to keep up with wallstreets expectations. The MBAs are running Google now.
you mean YouTube Prime... yeah, before YouTube prime, the ads number were becoming obscene... I was also forced to watch the same junk ad again and again. Also, if I skip over to the 2nd or 3rd minute to see what's happening in the video, ad again. Skip to 5th minute, ad again. It is like the ancient "road money": if you want to walk on this road, you have to leave us some money.
oh DuckDuckGo is a search engine? I just tried to search for webdriverIO, and they gave me the current one (v7), and the v6 and v4 one... I wonder how they decided to skip v5 and go to v4
What is their next billion dollar idea though? Ads can only take Google so far and cloud is very competitive now.
is it true people are using AWS (and hate it), or Azure? Google had something but often I do not hear what it is
@Apple I’m not sure if you’re trolling or not, but GCP is pretty well known in the industry and has solid revenue growth right now. Also people prefer AWS and GCP to Azure (at least according to stack overflow developer survey)
Read through earnings call if you really wanna know but ads are pretty robust now for google
I am looking for a few word answer or a couple of sentences... instead of listening to a 1 hour or 1.5 hours of unclear audio
Revenue: Still primarily ads due to shifts to digital and Google keeping its dominant market share across digital advertising as a whole Profit: Same answer as revenue, but even more heavily weighted towards ads and specifically search ads (where it's the highest margin business)
