My last post on Facebook was 2016. It’s deactivated since then. I don’t have an IG account. I only use WA for overseas conversation. I bought Quest2 and only used it once and it’s back in box. What does Meta have other than these? This is not a troll post or to hate Meta. On the contrary I have close ties with company. Want them to succeed. But I am not able to find a reason where I would see them succeed with the current set of products. If you are going to tell me they still have a billion users, well it’s mostly getting stale. I see IG going down like FB in terms of usage. Who even uses FB now? Old boomers? Young crowd is rarely using FB outside of groups to find housing in college. I talked to many college students. All said the same. TikTok is taking IG’s share. And if you believe MetaVerse is going to be something, I have a bridge to sell you in Timbuktu. I really don’t see a path with the current strategy and products for Meta to not have their stock collapse under $100.
Premise: I don’t like any of their products. Conclusion: company will fail.
McDonald's is going to be out of business by the end of the month. I haven't eaten there in years.
but you do see people eating at McDonald's? do you see people around still using FB? at least my hundreds fb friends they dont
They're placing a wild outside bet on VR, which will inevitably fail. Once they realize that their stock value will steadily decline
Shy fail? What makes you think so? How is this wild? Literally all big companies are investing in XR
Who else is placing a bet on VR? Especially as their primary focus of development. The truth is that FB has hit the maximum user cap for the world, unless they can get into China. Business models tend to operate under the principle of unlimited exponential growth, and they just don't have it anymore. So they'll try to increase ad revenue by showing 2-3x as many ads as now, which will just drive more people away. Apple is shutting their ads out of their products, which is a massive hit to revenue. I just don't see a positive path for FB to increase revenue. Laying off their own employees would increase profit in the short term, but utterly handicap them for any potential to save themselves. At this point they might as well try to create their own browser, phone, search engine. There's no other way back to ad revenue
Facebook’s share of young crowd is consistently going down. It was shared internally by head of product couple of years ago. Their revenue declined for the first time. What the hell are you talking of
You're an idiot. Revenue was actually up on a constant currency basis. Coupled with Apple revenue being at 1% growth during a tough economic climate. Zoom out and take a clue with all the people disagreeing with you.
All the ppl are wrong. I don’t worry about if billion ppl agree with me or not. I know what I am talking. Let time tell the truth
My relationship with Apple products is pretty similar. Conclusion: Apple is going to go bankrupt this fall. My logic is undeniable.
I dont think OP is saying they personally dont like products so the company will go down. They ask a legit question: with current set of products where is it headed? It might have 2B users today, but stock is future looking, if user decline continues, tiktok and others keep taking up market share then where will the “growth” or next big $ stream come from?
Why do people still doubt the metaverse vision? It’s so clear that VR/AR is the next evolution of smartphones and laptops. Just think about what else if not this? Brain controlled interfaces are too far and they’ll come after AR and VR. Meta may actually lose its own race and not be a big metaverse player, but denying that metaverse as an idea is bogus is pretty shortsighted. The fact that Apple is releasing a mixed reality device soon, as well as Tiktok, should be enough to understand how serious it already is
Smartphones worked because they are tiny and can be kept in a pocket. Ar/vr need us to wear a thick headset which is bulky and gives a headache after 15 mins. Most People dont even like wearing reading glasses and go for lasik or contacts.. And then it has to give me something that the real world cannot .. it has to be that immersive. Shrinking that headset to a contact lens size and still provide the compute and immersive experience needs many different breakthroughs in physics, semiconductors, battery tech, software etc. So, do you really think it can lead to the next 2B user market in the near future?
Oh, did we end up with iPhone 13 on day one? I’m old enough to remember first phones and first smartphones. They were very niche, mostly for business people, pricey and “who would even want that thing”. Things changed. And you can already see similar evolution with AR and VR devices. Look at headsets form 8-10 years ago and compare them with Quest 2 or HoloLens. Gives you perspective. And in 5-7 years they’ll be around 200-300 grams and super comfy, that I can say for sure. The idea of always having a smartphone in your pocket was also super novel. Hindsight is easy. I personally don’t see why people wouldn’t want to wear very light AR glasses which will replace both smartphones and headphones. You can always take them off and put in a charging case or something. Once we’re there on the tech level and influencers start wearing them, things will change in a couple years
To be fair meta’s market cap is around 0.5T, which is 20% of apple, 25% of MS, 1/3 of Amazon/alphabet, 1/2 of Tesla.. FB/INS/Vr will make enough money to back up its market cap
This is a wrong comparison. Just because every other company’s market cap is high doesn’t mean Meta is now cheaply valued. It’s a delusion. I have a simple Q. I don’t see meta’s Existing products to gain user numbers going forward. All I see is fall in user numbers with existing product. And once users fall, revenue will fall also, why won’t the stock cater then? What does Meta have where it can expect users to grow? Nothing. Zero zilch
I feel current stock fall has justified the concern you raised, meta still owns top notch technology to boost future products. I think Meta is neither overvalued nor undervalue ( it was 100% overvalued pre crash), remember meta today has similar market cap tier as NVIDIA/ J&J/ Walmart
d/dx(Meta) = 💩💩 😅
For Meta to succeed, AR/VR has to succeed, there is no plan B. If you don’t believe AR/VR is the next platform then Meta stock collapse under $100 makes sense given all the headwinds. I do believe AR/VR will disrupt many of the businesses in the coming decade but we need many technological breakthroughs for AR and some breakthroughs for VR for it to become reality. The reason I believe that is because I don’t hear any good argument for why it’s not the next platform while hear I many good arguments for why it is.
People will say we’re massive koolaid consumers, but I totally agree. Also don’t hear any good arguments against AR/VR. People keep saying “bulky”, “headache”, and “no one wants to wear glasses.” Very shortsighted
Yes, Bulky and headache are good arguments against current headsets, not future. “No one wants to wear glasses” without providing a reason as to why consumer behavior is fixed and cannot change is a not a good argument. If glasses improved my life, I’d use them just like I carry a small weight in my pocket today.
I am still amazed that so many think that wearing a glass on your eyes majority of the time is going to be the next big product 🤦♂️. Shows how out of touch Silicon Valley is with real world. There are 7.9B ppl in world. Ppl are ok to access Facebook on a mobile device to kill time, you must be delusional thinking they are going to wear smart glasses their waking life going forward. Amazing delusion
Why? You’re just saying it because you wouldn’t. And that is a big IF. You will if that becomes mass market. But what are your facts? Research, studies, polls? Meta is doing that stuff, btw. So there are actual user stories and data backing up their assumptions. What’s yours?
Lol. Dude I know my stuff. What research has Meta done? How many gamers all over world bought Quest2 if not all ppl? Your own quest2 for gaming niche use case alone hasn’t had many adopters. What are you even talking about
You sound like you got rejected. Pack it up everyone, OP doesn’t have an account and the other 2 billion people that use it daily don’t matter.
On the contrary I worked there. So if jokers like you can stop writing these crap comments, pls give way to others who aren’t cult deluded like you.
Ok reject.
