I'm currently working for Microsoft Consulting Services and I'm looking to jump into another consulting company but I'm not sure what else is out there. PROS about MCS: - Work life balance (depending on the gig). Billing + travel + administrative + impact is totally manageable. The expectation is that you bill 40 (usually). - travel perks - points, being able to have portions of personal trips paid for instead of flying home, seeing new cities, etc - per diem, daily gym allowance - constantly being challenged - networking - forming connections with influencers at other organizations - the ability to live wherever I want and often work remotely - CORPORATE HOUSING!! (On the rare long-term gig) - I'm highly autonomous and rarely micromanaged (or even managed) - can also be a con CONS: - political/org bs - management bs - being unspecialized - rarely working on cutting-edge - earnings growth - not much international travel - not many long-term gigs (with corporate housing) ----- where should I be looking if I'm trying to replicate the Pros and minimize the Cons? How do booz allen or deloitte or other companies compare? Are there any other career paths outside of consulting that offer some of the above perks? For context - I was hired by Microsoft out of college and I've been here for 4 years - trying to have as much of my lifestyle paid for as possible including travel/room/board ππ»
