My Gf is a CS student in her junior year. She received two internship offers: 1. Northrop Grumman. On AI/ML team 2. Big name research school (Caltech, MIT, Princeton, Penn, ...) laboratory. Doing web development. What would be the better choice for her long term career development?
Whichever has a chance to convert into fulltime If she is on Visa, probably #2 since H1 for those would be cap-exempt
AI/ML is better than web development.
Northrup. Not even a question.
+1 for Northrop
Does she want to go to grad school? Let her check out DREU program - research for undergrads at top university labs.
MIT/Princeton/Penn. it’s fine to have experiences like that when you’re still in college. Those are good names. Northrop is a defense contractor and will not impress anyone in the top tech companies your own included
Why is that?
Because it’s very liberal and Northrop doesn’t fit that mold
Grumman hands down
Both options sound shitty. 2 is better though, it has more a chance to lead to something better. Finding more options would be ideal.
Northrop
