Looked at buying a small SAS firm but they all seem terribly risky or built for the purpose of selling. I'd like to invest in a business that's more traditional and has a few experts already on staff. I know a lot of older folks just shut there businesses down when they retire, and that makes sense if it's mainly the owner. But for something with 7-10 employees on staff with most of the hands on knowledge, I think that could be manageable. Looking to make a career transition. TC 280k

Look for a company that starts with the letter 'a' because it shows up first in the yellow pages. Aardvark HVAC
You need to network. All the business offered online like in bizbuy are shit. These people do deals at dinners, golfing or charity fund raisers. Friend of mine just bought a concrete making plant for about $3M and transitioned from marketing manager to "CEO" for the 30 people company. He is 70% owner, rest is his sister who is a dentist (they invest a lot of their high income to different areas like RE or smb).
