Hi folks, my parents are visiting and will soon run out of Thyroid and Blood pressure medications. We have the doctors hand-written prescription from back home. What's the easiest way to get it refilled to US prescription so that I can buy these medicines. I live in San Jose. I am thinking of some kind of community clinic where some Indian (or Asian) doctor sits, understands how prescription work back home and will simply write a refill. Thanks.
They need to tell their local doctor in India that they will go on long term travel and ask them for a script which will cover that time, fill it in India and bring the medicine with them.
Unfortunately we had to extend their stay which resulted this situation.
Check if anyone in your circle is flying in from India and request them. You won’t get medicines here based on Indian prescription. Otherwise you will have to visit some doctor in US and gets meds based on their prescription. You must have their US visitors insurance right? Am not very certain about this, but if you visit doctors here, they might ask to get various tests done before prescribing meds.
I am actually trying to pursue the second option minus redoing all the tests. I just need a doctor who will understand the situation and will write a prescription based on the current prescription.
Basically you are asking the US doctor to ignore local law and insurance fraud. Not gonna happen. Unless that doctor is a crook.
You can purchase them India and shipped to USA via couriers like Garuda Vega. Could be pricier shipping and surely cheaper than visiting a doctor in USA .
Garuda Vega won't ship medicines.
Ship it from.india
You may have to send passport to the customs clearance agent but that's just a formality. You are legally allowed to import 90 days of personal supply.
Why they are not carrying enough? It generally has 1-2 year expiry.
San Jose Gurudwara in Evergreen has a community medical clinic, they will do a check-up and give a US prescription that you can use at any pharmacy. its free. Would recommend to give a donation as you feel.

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
I doubt they will fill it. My guess is you might have to a local give you another prescription.
Sorry didn't get you. I have to go to a local (meaning US) doctor?
Yes.
