I have some in chase savings n some in checking and looking for better return/low risk options. I am an immigrant and not aware of US investment options outside of stocks/crypto. Thanks! Tc: 320k
Slowly invest it in index funds
Like 1000 per month or 500 every other week ? What's your take
I would invest 75% within the next 6 six months, then 1k every month. Try to catch the dip but just be strategic about it.
What do you mean by low risk? Volatility range is important before deciding where to put it
Some people have 10% volatility (meaning +-10% of initial) as low, some people say 5%
< 10% or so
Time frame? When do you need it back?
1-2 years? Roughly. Thinking of this as somewhat beyond emergency funds.
Put it in an HYSA, SoFi gives 1.25% if you setup direct deposit there
You can put some money in high yield savings or into CDs.
Bond funds like BND are safe but not going to perform well during inflation and rising interest rates. You can buy ibonds in 10k a year incremental but can't withdraw for one year. If you aren't planning to use the money then dollar cost avg into index funds or safe dividend stocks
Thanks! Going to check the ibonds piece out. DCA is sounding pretty unstable right now so wondering if I should hold on to some cash if we indeed see a real estate correction in the next year or so.
https://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/products/prod_ibonds_glance.htm 10k max per person though, so find 9 other people you trust
This looks pretty great (other than the 9 other people part haha). Thank you!
Buy property in India in upcoming areas.
I had some family recommend against it citing losses while trying to bring it back - something to do with tax scheme in India and dollar/rs conversion
Dude if trump can go invest in India Real estate, so can you
For those of you that are DCAing into index funds, do you ever DCA when exiting them if the price starts to tank?
DCA and forget it for the next 30 years
Only invest what you’re willing to lose completely
These index DCA advices smh. Given the huge crash, just wait it out on the side until things tie over. Then put it in profitable growth stocks for 50-70% IRR
Yeah that’s why I am wondering where to keep some cash on hand so that I can take advantage of a housing correction or a further market drop (recession)
Yeah and what exactly is the floor?
Bonds. DCA into SPY
Thanks! Any specific bonds u can recommend? I am DCAing on the side slowly.
This is the best advice. Anything else will have a higher risk/reward ratio
