Hi, due to some immigration issues, I am looking for options outside the US. I am contemplating whether to go back to India or go into visa hassles for some other locations like Canada and UK. Also, looking into other companies. So far I am considering: FB, Snap, Stripe #london Instacart, Shopify #canada Databricks #amsterdam Microsoft, PhonePe #India Trying to avoid pre-ipo non US companies and US companies that would require working in PST timezone from India. Aiming for tier1 companies that can match/beat local Google offers. What other options should I be looking at? Compwise staying at G makes most sense given the significant unvested equity but I am trying to explore outside too. If you can refer to these, please let me know. Thanks! TC:300K
Google India, rest and vest.
Quora Canada or Wfh from India. They are paying competitive.
Can we apply to Quora if we are in India? Never heard of this before
Yes you can, they are remote first. I got a offer recently. Would be joining most likely
When are you planning to move? Depends on what you want. Overall just from a location perspective Canada seems the best bet
Databricks Amsterdam, this place is dope yo
@OP how are the immigration prospects of Amsterdam & London? Are they better or equal to that of Canada? (Know Canada to provide programs like express entry which are super easy / no hassle / no long wait)
In Amsterdam is easy, especially for swe. Netherlands has a program to attract highly skilled migrants (basically whoever earns more than 50k eur/year) for which they consider 30% of the gross income as tax free for the first 5 years (you pay taxes on only 70% of your salary). Google "30% ruling". Also, you can get citizenship after 5 years, but they don't support dual citizenship, so you'll have to renounce your original one (some executions exist though).
Google Zurich pays the same as NYC/California, and has some good teams (Flights/Maps/etc). Google immigration should take care of the visa stuff, so should be a fairly easy move if you find a manager willing to hire you through the internal job board.
Are you sure that google zurich salaries are same as NYC/California ? I doubt. How are interviews there. Is it as difficult as California
I heard base pay in Zurich is same as Mountain View, but RSU grants are a bit smaller.
Facebook is hiring remote roles from Canada right now (E5 and above).
Singapore...close to India
Facebook London
Uber Amsterdam Google outside USA
