Title says it all.
50k is not that big. You can use any of them if you're just going to dump and forget
Lol
I use Morgan Stanley because I have a line of credit against my portfolio there, will change to Schwab soon though
TD Ameritrade
Vanguard, for me. Fidelity and Schwab fine, too. And yeah, 50k is minor in investing sense. You do the same for 5k, 50k, 500k - put it in low cost brokerage and buy an index fund (after you max 401k)
Why not ETF? Any specific reason you mentioned index fund?
Etf is a type of index fund.
Use any of the big boring brokerages. Vanguard, Schwab, Fidelity, etc.. They've been around forever and are mature products. Don't use Robinhood. Honestly, primarily because you SHOULDN'T be checking your investing balance daily, just once every 6 months or so. And Robinhood's strategy of make a pretty app and all but gamify investing is basically the opposite of that.
Don’t use Robinhood. First of all, just checked, the live chat is a 5 hour wait and it’s a 3 hour wait to get a phone callback. That’s normal these days as we laid off customer service staff yet again last week. I assume the long term plan is to use AI chat bots for most customer service. Also, the brokerage platform lacks a lot of things anyone not just gambling will need such as tax lot selection and cost basis information.
You can't select lots when selling? Damn
