Which companies are worth working right now?

Google was a great place and an optimal combination of good work, amazing colleagues, wlb and flexibility, pay and benefits. You could certainly get one (or two) of these elsewhere but the combination was very difficult to find. It's steeply declining and is the next Amazon in the making. Meta, Amazon, Databricks are high stress. TikTok is 996. LinkedIn and Atlassian used to be good places to work, looks like not anymore. Microsoft is low pay and rolling layoffs. Netflix doesn't hire a lot. So maybe Apple or Uber? Any other companies?

pretty sure apple will have its reckoning eventually. One can only coast off incremental product releases and the becky money supply and xi manufacturing supply for so long

Location? And are you fine with paper money?

Might as well tell the names with those qualifiers, will be helpful

Looks like Netflix is doing the right thing. Apple is great.

Apple and Netflix would be the big two on my radar. I don't like Amazon or meta's product, and most up and comers aren't convincing to me that they have staying power (Roblox, etc)

It depends what you’re optimizing for. Tc, wlb, etc

Google hof38m OP Jan 28

If there's a sweet spot, I would love that. Google was one at some point. Otherwise decent pay with good wlb.

The standard formula is waking hours - utility(chore hours) - avg(work hours) = leisure hours * 1.35(hourly wage) = wlb for each year over 18 raise to the .85, and then when past 62 raise to the 1.25 Or just get a daily mood tracker and see what activities make you happy. Then see if working or not working makes you happier. Do more of whatever makes you happier.

Good one! How's the culture there?

Capital One kenough 13 Jan 28

I don't work there but I hear it has great wlb with decent pay. They're one of the few companies not laying people off plus their stocks are soaring

I wish I knew… Netflix does seem solid. Airbnb? Pinterest? Stripe? Block?

Amazon jfkfknacnn Jan 28

Stripe sucks

Block solid

Amazon number032 Jan 28

The offers I’ve seen from Apple are pretty low compared to the rest of FAANG. Seems like a solid, cozy company, but the comp may not be where you’d like it. I think Netflix is the best tech employer right now. Finance—like Jane Street—may have surpassed FAANG in compensation, but they’re in-office and they seem to have higher-than-average stress. Maybe I’m wrong about the stress though.

Google dhgejj7383 Jan 28

Lol. "May" and "surpassed". Its always been much higher.

Not necessarily ^
