Wondering which company is most likely to pay high TC for such a position for 5+ yrs experience. Current base in the position is 210k and 20k bonus. Looking to get closer to the $350k TC mark. Specialization in the field is pentesting, however I used to be a SE.
Pen testers are a dime a dozen. You won't get to 350 in that field
I do both sides, pentesting and secure design. Also the majority of pentesters aren’t great, i’ve worked with a bunch we’ve contracted from various top companies. They just go by the book and show very little creativity in their exploits
Architecture pays the most (well security MGMT pays the most for real). If you are talking about how you are better than other pen testers - you have just tipped your hand that you don't get how this all works. It's not about better. Its about ROI. Which security problems can you solve that bring the most business value
Any of the Tier 1/Tier 2 tech companies will pay you 350k TC IF you can prove you’re as good as you say you are. I know you’re simplifying a specific scenario with dumping a DB but it’s not always a DB that’s being dumped 😂 AppSec/PSIRT roles are plenty and if you know how to integrate yourself, your findings and your recommendations into the SDLC and CI/CD pipeline then you’ll be good to go. Soft skills are just as important as tech skills when you’re in the Cyber world.
Yes of course it’s not always a DB, that was just an off-the-cuff example. Thanks for the response
Apple pays security engineers well. I know because I am one. My TC is 400k+ but I know others here that are paid even more. Google pays very well also
What kind of security engineer are you and what level?
What is your YoE?
Let's us know where you end up. Best of luck
FB pays its prodsec team pretty well. Security at FB is all about building out tooling which might fit with your SWE background.
Yea but commuting to Menlo Park every day will kill me
