Let's make some predictions, considering things going on, which employer will take the biggest hit in near future in terms of attracting talent? #tech
Hot take. Meta continues to have prestige. They still pay a ton to top employees. And with money comes prestige. Google on the other hand is headed to the dumpster.
What do you think will be successful for Meta in the 5 year timeframe?
^ selling ad space on Facebook
Amazon was never really prestigious. Whole concept of prestige is stupid imo.
FAANG prestige makes it so you can do whatever you want and still have a pipeline of employees. Itās so sad.
Amazon is the biggest company of the lot. With the biggest cloud offering. This is America, bigger IS prestige
I am not surprised that twitter is not here.
It is already in the toilet
Many in the list are not prestigious
Coinbase is only prestigious to cryptobros. There is no such thing as a legitimate crypto company. FTX wasnāt an outlier, itās the norm.
Donāt forget that prestige on Blind is tied to just the TC and TC alone.
Snap
Already dead
Why are there two options for Lyft š
That's how easy it is to forget about Lyft
Virgin Amazon Employee: āNooo you canāt say our company sucks itās #1 on LinkedIn!!!!ā Chad Lyft Employee: āItās true. Lyft is a forgettable companyā
Meta has first mover advantage on generative AI for long term plays. Making API calls to to OpenAI for their GPT models is great and all to familiarize people with the capabilities of the technology, but ultimately people wonāt want to send their data out to another party, and there are tons of other advantages for running gen AI on edge devices. Meta has the lead here with their release of llama. And more and more companies are starting to build stuff off their open source foundational models. Metas not going anywhere. They got a bit fat from political empire builders internally, but once all the BS is trimmed, theyāll be more prestigious. Meanwhile despite all the great foundational research G has done, they havenāt released much, and what they have released kinda sucks. Prestige comes down to name recognition and money. And name recognition is tied to releases. Back to the question does anyone even use Pinterest anymore? Lyft is also a dying company. Edit: to the folks scoffing at the concept of prestigeāit means that when the hiring manager looking at your resume for your next role, they pay that much more attention because of the flashy name. Literally going through this now as a hiring manager. I have hundreds of applicants for a single opening. I spent the time going through each one in the initial batch of applicants, now I just donāt have time, but Iāll do a double take on MAANG resumes, as a heuristic. Sure itās not the only criteria but it definitely is a flagging criteria. The talent team is theoretically looking through every application to also flag candidates, but they are just human, who knows what heuristics theyāre using.
PARC had the first mover advantage on mouse and UI.
Prestige is a made-up word to make you feel better for working in a hell hole
Amazon has a growing negative image in India. I have heard about horrible WLB in Amazon on reddit
