1. Offer- FAANG 90k Seattle 2. Offer- investment bank 70k Indianapolis This is for somewhat entry level
If you're looking to get into m&a and Corp dev, I'd say do the investment bank first. Think of it as a bootcamp. Internal financial analyst roles are going to be way too laid back to learn much about anything. Plus, deal flow is going to be hit or miss. But if you're just looking for a comfy job in accounting, go with FAANG
erm you know banks have internal finance too..
I voted FAANG. Having been in corporate finance for a decade, I will always have a regret of not working for an investment bank for a couple of years at the beginning of my career. That would add a lot of value to your resume. At the same time, there are only so many non-tech roles in FAANG so difficult for that to come again.
Definitely go for fang. You can easily go from fang to ib dev but not vice versa
This is entirely incorrect. There are tons of ex-IB ppl in FAANG finance roles. Going from FAANG finance (essentially glorified accounting) to IB at any respectable bank is super tough unless you have prior M&A experience
Ooh didn’t know you were going for non tech
FAANG is def better: money + location + culture/wlb + name (unless other factors are at play, like family/obligations, etc.)
90k for TC? 🤔 I thought FAANG pays more even for entry level..
The reason why everyone is voting fang is because the original post was vague and people thought it was fang engineer vs banking analyst
there's no comparison between Seattle and Indianapolis. tc does not matter for entry level positions. other opportunities every 2 years do matter.
