Which is a better company to join Pinterest or Uber for an engineer? Why?

Can someone please share their input on joining one of these companies and why either is a better bet. Thank you for your advice.

You need to add more context, because on almost every objective measure I’d say Uber. If you’re a designer, then I’d say Pinterest, but we have no idea.

Uber, unless the comp difference is significant. Note that we have no bonus and shitty refreshers. Uber has bonus and slightly less shitty refreshers.

Our refreshers have been amazing for me. If you're top 10% you get rewarded better than anywhere I've found. I've talked to countless companies who can't come close to competing.

Pinterest BKavanaugh Oct 5, 2018

Sure, so it sucks for 90% of employees. Most companies, including Uber, give 25% of midpoint as on target refresher. We give 10%. Some companies, such as Uber, have shorter vest cycles (3 years) for refreshers. We have no annual bonus, negligible spot bonuses (I got $2k for doing a major ads launch).

If you're an ml engineer, def Pinterest.

How what?

Uber, engineering leadership is much better there.

Don’t know too much about Pinterest, but that says something. Most people don’t. Uber is a highly visible, highly impactful company that’s disrupted how we get around. Deeper engineering. Top talent from top companies.

Yeah, there is no comparison at all, none. Uber is going to shape the future while Pinterest will be gone in 10 years.

Depends on your P(ersonal)INTEREST.

How many of Pinterest's users are people who get there through Google search and have to log in? Hm.
