Having a debate with friends on University prestige vs program prestige. We agreed CMU CS > Harvard CS But what about the following? Which is more prestigious? Edit: TC 290k
Of course UIUC CS. UIUC CS is significantly better than Harvard CS too. Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, and CMU rank above it in that order.
Also, when I say UIUC CS, I mean UIUC CS, not the CS+X BS they introduced a few years ago.
They're the same sincerely cs+math grad
Also, you are conflating — probably intentionally — prestige in a particular major vs overall prestige. If there was a life or death situation and there was a piece of code that had to be written correctly or I’d die, I would choose the CMU CS major to write it over the Harvard CS major. But If I had to pick which person had the overall knowledge in many fields, the leadership, the vision, and the communication skills to become a software engineering manager, and if I chose incorrectly I’d die, I’d choose the Harvard CS grad, even though most Harvard alums I have met are ponderous, self-absorbed tools who are unpleasant to be around.
Sounds like you guys need to get out more
Loser
Depends on your audience. For techies, probably UIUC. For everyone else, ivy leagues are much more likely to be recognized.
Your friends sound boring AF if this is what yall talk about
