1. Nike : 135k base+15% target bonus + $13,000 signing cash. No RSU. Cool perks like summer Fridays and extra week off in august. NO RSU. Hybrid - (relocation to Atlanta next year, this is not an issue since I wanted to move there anyways) This is a role that will allow me to expand my skills as well and learn something new 2. Starbucks: $135k base+ 20% target bonus + RSU. 100% remote (currently in NY). Perks like 1 lb of free coffee weekly, free spotify, etc. #compensation #nike #starbucks #tech TC: $135k YoE: 6 years Working in IT Service Management
Agreed, I’m 100% remote and would gladly remove any/all additional perks to remain remote. It’s not for everyone, but provides an excellent amount of freedom for yourself and family (if you have or plan to have one).
How much RSU? That should be treated similar to cash if you can sell frequently
2 and move to the Bay Area for future career development
You are absolutely correct. Everyone should move to Bay Area. NYC, Seattle, Redmond, Raleigh etc are all shitty with Zero Career development Opportunities. No wonder their pay is shitty. /s
May I ask what role this is for? Is it SWE?
W/ re:remote, I would ask if they have regional pay tiers. The $135k could be based on NY which usually is tier 1, and Atlanta could be a tier lower. I.e., if you move to Atlanta, they may adjust your pay. Salesforce does this, and someone moving from Bay Area to Seattle had to take a 5% pay cut, someone moving to Portland had to take a 10% pay cut.
Starbucks is what I’d pick. The fully remote designation is great, rsus sound good, and for me coffee would be a nice perk.
I’d want Starbucks, the flexibility of working wherever I want to live, and the higher TC. I wish I knew how the PTO stacks up against one another. The extra week in August is okay but it’s specified to a certain time frame in which travel is expensive.
Mind sharing what the interviews were like and what skills this role requires?
Gonna go against the grain here. Everyone is ignoring the fact that the Nike position will “allow you to expand skills and learn something new”. Assuming that you’re early in your career, the Starbucks role doesnt offer as much growth potential, and that the Starbucks RSUs aren’t a large amount, I would absolutely go with Nike. Everyones talking about remote. You wanted to move to Atlanta anyway so this is a moot point. Worst case, you dont like living there and want to move. You can always nego that later or apply for a diff job after Nike. Always over-index on learning potential early on in your career all else being equal.

I'd take the remote job. You can't put a price on the freedom to live/work anywhere and not having to commute. You can still move to Atlanta too if you want.
