Let’s face it - last couple of years have been weird in tech. Hiring booms followed by mass layoffs. Kind of a good time for non tech orgs to fill tech roles that have been chronically understaffed. I personally have been approached for gov roles touting the ‘safe, 9-5, decent pay’ appeal. Also heard of banking, consulting, quant, retail, etc. Curious what people have seen? TC 200 YOE 5
What kind of gov roles? I have seen Banks and Insurance generally. Consulting is trying to adopt some techy job titles but I haven’t really seen them successfully do so in a meaningful way. I guess to an extent Pharma, though less so than others.
For government, usually IT, cyber security, as well as web developers for government site updates.
Medical, financial, and government have been the big areas. Government in particular roles, in particular, have been trying to lure FAANGM talent to working as Government has historically been the WLB paradise while they get more talented people with a more modern development mindset.
