It’s absolutely insane. Coding, system design, bullshit behaviorals, etc. One slip in the coding round? Rejected. Different approach in the system design? Rejected. Not the right ethnicity? Rejected. Solved too fast? Rejected. Solved too slow? Rejected. Didn’t know some obscure red black tree algorithm? Rejected. Didn’t smile enough? Rejected. Smiled too much? Rejected. Not the right work projects? Rejected. I swear if I only knew I would have to deal with this bullshit, chances are I wouldn’t have gone into tech even though I like coding. This is absolute bullshit. P.S. the funniest thing is that sometimes you can tell the interviewers barely understand their own questions, or even barely understand tech. They would sometimes memorize a solution and god forbid you deviate from it even though your’s works just fine. #tech
Non-Tech folks
Completely agree. 👍. Fucking bullshit interview practices that penalize the senior candidates more than others. If I knew how senior candidates are going to be treated in this industry I wouldn't have opted for this. I had the option for taking up medicine, but my stupid love for tech brought me to this sh!t hole.
If it helps medicine sucks worse my husband and all his physician friends are always trying to get out of it. They get barraded by patients and have to deal with crazy people regularly... No interviews stand between the people he has to deal with.
Berated, Google. Barraded is not a word
Meh. Me and my friends pass every interview pretty easily. Maybe skill issue
Too much supply. Thanks to all those YouTubers and bootcamps.
Yes.. agree. We need to produce what interviewer prepared for system design
What is the alternative?
Hiring people based off experience. Sure you may end up with some duds who don't know what they're doing but that is already the case anyway. Just lay them off or fire them. Think of all the time and money you will save from putting everyone through 5 stage interview processes. This applies for senior level only.
Which manager would wanna go through the process of firing a slacker? None. It’s the culture that we need to fix.
You’re preaching to the choir man.
We need to go back to in office interviews
Stfu
Im for this. Im never doing RTO but ill take an in person interview over online any day!
It was Google actually
