Uber lol!
To be fair, they have been doing it the longest aside from Waymo and were (one of?) the first to give rides to the public albeit in Pittsburgh. They really got sucker punched by the lawsuit, but have a great team.
Decent amount of research publications comes out from ATG, however most industry rankings don’t include them in the running. I’d be interested to see some of their updates on their AV progress.
Tesla has biggest advantage of millions of their robots collecting data from real world and reporting back to HQ.
🍿 the AV experts are going to eviscerate you for that statement.
Well...how do you know that I am not an AV expert working on secret AV project of Amazon ?
Everyone actually in self driving voted Waymo
How’s Cruise?
Busy censoring Blind posts
Boston Dynamics. People gonna be riding self riding horses
Atlas at the wheel would be cool though!
Albertsons will win!
For a while I thought that Nvidia would get in the race rather than being just a supplier. The SW team is great and they already develop the HW brains
We are in the race, but business model may vary. No one knows how it will look in the end
Very surprising to see people voting Tesla above Cruise and Zoox. It is a testament of trust, salesmanship and also rapid iteration and delivery by Tesla.
Everyone is underestimating the difficulty of AVs. Tesla will be in the game the longest and will keep making incremental progress year in and year out. They will win simply because nobody else is doing that at Tesla's scale.
Waymo will win level 4 Tesla will win level 2
Will Cruise, Argo, Zoox form a pile in the AV graveyard?
I hope not 😵
Wait, where's Uber? They're the current undisputed leader, they've killed the most humans with their cars. Tesla is another leader, they excel in driver fatalities though.
Waymo or Tesla. I feel like anyone using Waymo-like technology cannot beat Waymo. Tesla's approach doesn't work for L4 now but who knows what happens to ML/AI in 5-10 years.
This is the correct take. Waymo et al = brute force approach. Waymo wins, everyone else loses. But Tesla is a long shot. Or someone like them that comes along with the next gen of AV companies.
Waymo seems like the obvious front runner. The rest seems murky given the video releases look cherry picked and all sped up 2-3x. Tesla L2 and strategy is fundamentally different. Depending on how their vision based approach advances 5-10+ years they could come up ahead of the legacy OEMs.

By 2030 iCar will have cruise control and they will sell it for $200k calling cruise control an innovation.
