Does working at Rivian vs Working a Chase gives you any bias ?
The more qualified candidate…
Please assume both have the same qualifications . What I need to understand is there a difference in perception between working for a startup vs a bank ?
IMO, you should work at the place where you’ll feel motivated to do your best work because that’s what will come through when interviewing for your next position. If you take job A because some rando on Blind told you it’d be more prestigious and you hate working there, you won’t have as much to talk about when interviewing for your next job. OTOH, if you take job B and kill it because it’s where you want to be, then (1) you might not want to leave 😀, and (2) that enthusiasm will come through in interviews and really help you.
Rivian is auto industry. Depends if you are applying for GM/ford or Goldman Sachs/Morgan Stanley/Jane street etc. if GM or ford then Rivian candidate would be preferred
Or not, since Rivian famous for lack of execution
JP morgan chase digital banking is a small specialized unit in JPMorgan which hires folks from Big Tech and pays way more than rest of the banks. This unit is created to complete with fintechs/neo banks. To answer your question - not everyone is aware of above info so it's subjective. Big banks have wide spectrum of talent when I review the profile I look for which area/part of the banks they have worked on.
