Netflix introduced a cheaper priced tier which includes ads. It is optional for customers who want to save money. Amazon introduced ads to all Prime Video users forcing them to watch ads. If you want to remove ads you must pay extra to a more expensive tier. If you want to save money you stay on current version included with your Prime service. The 2 companies literally went opposite routes on this one. Which model do you think will win in the end?
I left cable to avoid ads. But here we go. Chasing profit
I agree with you on ads, they suck! But if you want a socialist economy, you should move to somewhere in Europe?

It's functionally the same, but the Netflix model is far superior simply because of inertia (people staying in the same non-ads tier by default) and the cheaper offering is a way to pick up new subscribers. Amazon's approach is just pissing off everybody who suddenly has to deal with a shittier product even though they didn't make any changes to their subscription. My real problem with Amazon Prime (besides the crappier content) is that they have too many tiers of products within their app. I don't want to dig through your entire app to figure out what I can watch for free, what I can watch for free with ads, and what I have to pay to rent.
Whoever has better content. If there’s a good show, I’ll watch 10m ads to watch it
"We wanted to let you know that the Netflix plan included with your T-Mobile package has been changed to the Standard with ads plan. Netflix is still included with your T-Mobile package and there are no changes to your T-Mobile bill." Same shit.
These takes are wrong - basically no one will cancel prime because of ads
You're right. But as a customer, I hate it. Short term gain, long term loss. I'll definitely be considering giving my business elsewhere when prices are similar. Amazon basically pigeon holed themselves into a position where they lose in the long run. Same story as cable, which also used to be the ad-free alternative to OTA. Until it wasn't.
I literally cancelled it because of the ads.
Amazon prime sucks
