I work for a company that’s adopting Amazon’s policies: mainly treating everyone like they’re a big piece of 💩. Do you know what that does? All of your A game will leave. People will feel deflated and move on to greener pastures. The only ones left will be the weak who couldn’t interview their way into a better situation. Those workers have no ability to keep the lights on. There’s a huge gap in productivity between the competent and the less fortunate.
Bad DD. I’m smarter than you
After a good stint at amazon I found a song that did an amazing job of summing up my experience at amazon. Generals by The Damned. When I had started there, there were so many motivated, bright people. By the time I left so few people who fit that mold. Lots more people but the ones who were there now were just defeated. The people who left didn’t leave because amazon didn’t treat them well. They were all people who thrived trying to do amazing work. They left simply due to comp. Companies like Twitter and FB and OCI came along and offered a lot more money. What was left when they were gone were 2x+ the number of people but they weren’t able to accomplish what the previous generation could. They also stopped biasing towards hiring A type personalities but expected the employees to work that way. So amazon never changed the way they treated people, the people they hired just expected to be treated differently than the previous did.
This is what got amazon here, why do you think it will stop working? Watch the annual meetings, it is always same principals.
AMZN is very overvalued. Their only good business is AWS which should be valued at $700B. Their e-commerce side should be valued at way less. Unlike MSFT or Google they don’t have multiple money printing businesses. They don’t have growth excuse to justify high PE anymore.
Amazon doesn't treat everyone like 💩. No competing offer. Both Google and Amazon give peanuts. With competing offer, Amazon can give 350k+ even 400k+ for E4.
Google is a retirement home in comparison and you can still live an upper middle class life on a G salary Save yourself the gray hairs
