Why are Bay Area drivers so shit

Every day an accident on the 101 it seems. Many don't use turn signals, check blind spots etc. or just drive aggressively

Microsoft qqxS28 Sep 25, 2018

At least they're better than Washington drivers

Facebook public Sep 25, 2018

True that

LinkedIn Linkgin Sep 25, 2018

They're just different types of shit. CA drivers are completely self centered assholes. WA drivers are slow and dont understand how a left lane works.

Nvidia smartpm9 Sep 25, 2018

Any pattern / trend in these accidents 🤔?

Airbnb Ghrual Sep 25, 2018

So many inexperienced drivers. People come from all over the world, typically from places where driving to commute isn’t the norm.

Facebook 435 Sep 25, 2018

I feel it’s the contrary, driving here is too easy and tests too lax. Most americans wouldn’t be able to drive in many of the countries the people you mention come from. Look at the comments, people complaining about no turn lights to change lane, lol. Try no turn lights EVER, no one respecting lanes, distance between cars of less than a meter, etc. (Which I’m not saying is a good thing, but driving here is extremely easy)

Airbnb Ghrual Sep 25, 2018

Yes I’m familiar, but the immigrants that come over from India and China generally did not have experience driving themselves everyday in their home country. Or if they did, maybe they brought some of that dangerous behavior over from their home country? In the US outside of NYC/SF every kid learns to drive at 16 and then drives nearly every day until they retire.

You know

Worst are the mother fuckers that cut the line. 880 -> 280N ramp. They are scum of the Earth.

Facebook public Sep 25, 2018

Haha omg never wait in line, it's inefficient.

And tomorrow’s headline news: Apple removes Facebook from the AppStore

Gusto plskillme Sep 25, 2018

Is there an objective measure of this? I feel like everyone says the same about the city they live in.

Microsoft qqxS28 Sep 25, 2018

I've lived in SF, LA, and Seattle and the drivers in Washington are easily the worst... The measure I'd use is time lost specifically due to bad drivers. LA/SF traffic is worse, but just because there's more people. In Washington I'm always stuck behind a blockade of cars that think it's fine to go 10 under the speed limit in every lane

Uber bág? Sep 25, 2018

I visited LA and lived in Seattle and SF. To me LA driver is the worst, then SF, then Seattle. All are bad though. I guess a factor is all these cities have bad traffic and your and your fellow drivers’ moods are already bad.

IBM lancetrol Sep 25, 2018

They are probably sending replies to their slack messages while driving

Uber fkrud Sep 26, 2018

Or checking blind

Google HRBP Sep 25, 2018

US does not have a normal driver training, that's why. How often do you hear about people taking driving exam five times and then giving up like in Europe?

Airbnb Ghrual Sep 25, 2018

People are fine drivers in the rest of the US

Microsoft MktgIdjit Sep 25, 2018

No they are not. Every single fucking state whines about its drivers. Easy as fuck to get a DL and driver training is non existent.

Visa blok Sep 25, 2018

It is laughable how easy it is to get a license. another point, bay area doesn't have weather that makes driving conditions worse and still its filled with terrible drivers

Credit Karma QJdc18 Sep 25, 2018

Bay area drivers are actually pretty good. Sure there are some idiots (or uber drivers dropping off on market st...) but generally people follow the rules. In Chicago on the other hand, it's often a shit show with people regularly blocking intersections during red lights, not yielding to pedestrians, and more fun shenanigans. And it's completely normal there.
