Amazon is number one. Microsoft is a strong number two. Number three is not even close to number two. What’s wrong with Google? Why can’t their cloud product compete with Amazon and Microsoft? Why is Google so far behind? #google #amazon #microsoft
I mean, Google is not even close. The gap is not even closing. Why can’t Google beat Amazon and Microsoft?
We even have GCP clients moving off and coming to IBM too.
Amazon started very very early, Microsoft had a great ecosystem of enterprise customers whom they sold Azure. Google is mostly not into enterprise neither they started early. I don't think Google cares much about cloud, they are happy to be at 3rd position and mint 13B$ revenue
Both Microsoft and Amazon switched their business model to public cloud first. Google has yet to do this.
I think cloud is a side business for Google. Their ads are earning enough money that cloud need not be in top 2 to justify their market cap.
Google is for engineers by engineers. Most F500 companies aren’t that mature yet

You did that to your self OP. True blinder!
Gcp sales engineers suck. We were blackmailed by one. Amazon puts customers first. Tldr - we used a critical GCP service and our contract was expiring. Renewing contracts takes a long time becauss it requires legal, administrative and tech all to sync... We were told its ok and then during a critical holiday period we were given a 72 hour or so notice to sign renewal or lose service As much as i love google and its engineers- you can’t do this and expect customers to be happy.
What do you mean lose service? If your contact expires you just pay list prices. No way to lose services.
@asdfh and pay retail prices VS enterprise costs? Look at the gaslighting lol
G does not have service skills built into its DNA. And the cloud teams are pushing shoddy buggy features to the clients, tarnishing Googles image. What is surprising is how Amzn can provide such a reliable and scalable service, given that it hires the least smart engineers in FANG and pays the least amount of salaries.
They actually have good offers for L6 engineers and they have zero WLB so maybe that is why? I think Amazon will eventually turn software engineering into blue collar job
There arent enough L6 in the entire industry to handle all the work at Amzn. You cannot have one smart L6 leading a crew of workaholic morons. It wont work out in the long run. Or maybe it would? Ive never seen a company succeed by hiring 'less smart' people and paying them less. But maybe Amzn will prove me wrong? Maybe it has already proven me wrong :)

Focus on shipping new shiny features for promotion and conference talks instead of solving boring problems for customers.
I am sorry but this is the old good Google. Now they do worse since TK took over. They overpromise and under-deliver with shiny stuff.
